Ingrid Greenfield is a ceramicist, pottery instructor, and erstwhile art historian currently based in Basel. She received a PhD in Art History from the University of Chicago, and from 2017 to 2021, she held the postdoctoral position of Assistant to the Director for Academic Programs at I Tatti, the Harvard University Center for Italian Renaissance Studies in Florence, Italy. Her past research has broadly dealt with the history of collecting in the early modern period, and more specifically with material encounters and exchange between Europeans and West Africans ca. 1400-1600. More recently, she has returned to her early training in the visual arts and as a partner at the Ceramics Collective Basel studio, she teaches hand-building workshops and wheel-throwing courses.
