ZUZANNA SARNECKA holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge (2017) and an MA from the Courtauld Institute of Art (2012). She specialises in the material and visual culture of early modern Europe, with a particular focus on the technical aspects of artmaking. She has co-edited volumes on The Agency of Things in Medieval and Early Modern Art (Routledge 2018) and The Materiality of Terracotta in Early Modern Europe (Routledge 2023). Her first monograph, The Allure of Glazed Terracotta in Renaissance Italy, was published by Brepols and in open access in 2021. She is currently working on her second book project, Artistic Failures in Early Modern Ceramics, which focuses on the challenges of adapting the technique of tin-glazed earthenware across Central Europe.
